… sleeping thought/recurring thought/haunting thought.
“I give you my hand!
I give you my love more precious than money,
I give you myself before preaching or law;
Will you give me yourself? will you come travel with me?
Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?”Walt Whitman

When I was young I had this album on tape and listened to it very often in my car. I had a whole slew of really good 80’s music. New Order, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths. I miss all those tapes sometimes. I think this stuff shaped me, and tonight this song hounded me despite my best efforts to be Me now.

We were discussing homosexuality because of an allusion to it in the book we were reading, and several boys made comments such as, “That’s disgusting.” We got into the debate and eventually a boy admitted that he was terrified/disgusted when he was once sharing a taxi and the other male passenger made a pass at him.The lightbulb went off. “Oh,” I said. “I get it. See, you are afraid, because for the first time in your life you have found yourself a victim of unwanted sexual advances by someone who has the physical ability to use force against you.” The boy nodded and shuddered visibly. “But,” I continued. “As a woman, you learn to live with that from the time you are fourteen, and it never stops. We live with that fear every day of our lives. Every man walking through the parking garage the same time you are is either just a harmless stranger or a potential rapist. Every time.” The girls in the room nodded, agreeing. The boys seemed genuinely shocked. “So think about that the next time you hit on a girl. Maybe, like you in the taxi, she doesn’t actually want you to.

dreams
had a series of very vivid dreams this morning. I know this doubt was going on but it came out in full form in dream world. Its not so much that I feel I made a mistake, it’s just regret over how things played out. I think it is just odd to see a life path fade and to be searching for a new one.

I wanted to give you everything
but I still stand in awe of superficial things
I wanted to love you like my mother’s mother’s mothers did

Had a very inspiring meeting with Kyohei today. Turning my portfolio box into an art object/piece in itself. Gonna put some rad stuff in there. Lots of ideas, lets see what i can do in a month…. then the horrors/joys of an unknown future
Marissa and myself made a really rad Derive project colab. We work well together all things considered. One of the people I would miss if my flight from Michigan becomes a reality.

In a dérive one or more persons during a certain period drop their usual motives for movement and action, their relations, their work and leisure activities, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there… But the dérive includes both this letting go and its necessary contradiction: the domination of psychogeographical variations by the knowledge and calculation of their possibilities
— Guy Debord
